The USL Championship announced the Team of the Week Presented by Cleer Audio for Week 8 of the 2020 regular season, with the Charleston Battery’s Zeiko Lewis earning Player of the Week honors after leading the Battery’s dramatic comeback victory against Atlanta United 2 on Saturday night.
The Bermuda international scored twice, including the game-winner in second-half stoppage time, as the Battery took a 3-2 victory against Atlanta after coming back from a two-goal deficit early in the second half.
Lewis earned 47 percent of the ballot for his performance. Indy Eleven’s Evan Newton received 27 percent of the poll after recording a three-save shutout that included a crucial penalty kick save in his side’s 1-0 victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which earned his 50th shutout in the Championship’s regular-season all-time.
The Championship’s Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the Championship.
