Clevonte Lodge Bean Sprint Challenge

This weekend the Bermuda Pacers Track Club in conjunction with Butterfield Bank, the title sponsor will host the first Clevonte Lodge Bean Sprint Challenge.

This track meet is dedicated to Clevonte Lodge Bean, a former Bermuda Pacers Track Club, and Bermuda National Athletic Association athlete that sadly lost his life in an accident in November 2020.

Lodge Bean represented Bermuda at the Carifta Games, the USATA Junior Nationals Championships, and the Junior Olympic.

He was a member of the Bermuda Pacers Track Club for 10 years and he represented the club at many Russell E. Blunt Eastcoast Invitational Track Meet in the United States.

During that time, he won many age group awards at the event. The club plans to start the event with a 400-meter lap of honor.

In addition to hosting this event, the Pacers Track will also announce the recipients of its 2021-2022 Educational Scholarship awards.

This event is for athletes between the ages of 3 to 19 years.

The event will be held at the Flora Duffy South Field Stadium at the National Sports Center on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, starting at 12.00 noon. The entry deadline is Thursday, April 20th, 2023, and the registration fee is $10. Parents can pick up their race numbers starting at 10:00 am on the top level of the stadium.

There is no entry on race day.

Lodge Bean, was predominantly a 200 and 400-meter runner, and the club feels that he was destined for greatness.

The athletes competing in this weekend’s event will run in the following events.

3-year-old and 4-year-old boys and Girls can compete in the 25 and 50 meters.

5-year-old and 6-year-old boys and girls can compete in the 50 and 75 meters.

Athletes between the ages of 7 to 19 years can compete in the 100, 200, and 400 meters.
