BSSF Middle School Track & Field Round-Up Day One

Saltus Grammar School leads after the first day of the Bermuda School Sports Federation Middle School Track and Field Championships.

Sitting on 161.50 points, Saltus are clear of Whitney Institute Middle School by 26 points as they are in second with 135.50 points and Dellwood Middle School in third with 120.50 points.

In terms of individual performances, Kelise Wade from Sandys Secondary Middle School was sensational in finishing as the top qualifier in the Under-13 Girls 200, 400, and 800 meters.

T'Mia Williams, from Mount Saint Agnes Academy, won the Division's Long Jump event with Saltus's Annie Dodwell winning the Turbo Javelin.

Bermuda High Schools Rachel Kelly won the Discus and Whitney's E'Rynn Paynter was successful in the Shot Put.

Also impressing on the track were the Under-13 pair Jeon Wolfe and Zydon Lightbourne-Furbert, Dellwood's Wolfe was the top dog in the 100 and 200 meters with Warwick Academy’s Lightbourne-Furbert fastest in the 800 and less than 0.3 seconds away from breaking the record in the 400 meters.

MSA won their second medal of the day when Jaylen Medeiros won the High Jump, while Clearwater's Myron Wolffe leaped furthest in the Long Jump. Warwick Academy's Kyle Valadao captured Gold in the Discus and Shot Put.

Saltus student Chaz Edmead had a great day, finishing fastest in the 100 and 200 meters while also coming out on top in the High Jump, his school-mate Connor O'Sullivan finished top of the 400 and 800 qualifiers with Alasdair Cooper picking up the win in the Turbo Javelin.

Other Gold-Medal winners were Whitney Institute's Taurus Franklin in the Long Jump and Brooklyn Barnett from Somersfield Academy in the Discus.

Three field events were completed in the Over-13 Boys Division. Saezjhor Dent from Saltus won the High Jump with Zia Daniels winning the Shot Put and Whitney's Gabriel Armstrong winning the Discus.

Four different athletes were top on the track, Justin Dill from Sandys was fastest in the 100 with Bermuda Institute’s Joshua Smith quickest in the 200. Mekhi Wilson blazed the field in the 400 and Connor Hupman goes into the finals as the lead qualifier in the 800.

Amara Samuels from BHS finished fastest in the Under-12 Girls 100 meters and also won Gold in the Long Jump.

Other top qualifiers in the Division were Zakhya Scott from Sandys in the 200, Bermuda Institute's Dhiannon Bailey in the 400, and Warwick Academy's Leyan Williams in the 800.

Erica Singleton, from BHS, threw furthest in the Turbo Javelin, McKenna Kyme did likewise for Saltus in the Discus and Dellwood’s Sah-Qurity Warner was best in the Shot Put.

Dellwood's Lashae Jones was fastest in both the 100 and 200 in the Over-13 Girls Divisions. Warwick Academy's Amaris Munya topped the 400 qualifiers with Azari Jones, from Sandys, leading the field in the 800.

The Warwick Academy pair of Jasmine McIntosh and Tatiana Sousa won the Triple Jump and Turbo Javelin, with Raya Ming of BHS rounding out the winners by claiming Gold in the Discus.
