Bobb Was Due to Meet the World in Track & Field in 2020

IslandStats.com
Eight-hundred other Harford Track and Field athletes like many around the world had their spring season cancelled. Many of them brought hopes for championships and records into the spring but found disappointment instead.

One of those athletes was bound for Bermuda in 16-year-old track phenom Caitlyn Bobb.

The record-setting junior was invited to run in the New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York City March 13th-15th, with the meet was canceled on March 11th.

She was also presented an opportunity to compete in the World Athletics Indoor Games in China, which has been postponed to 2021.

Bobb was scheduled to compete in the Carifta Games in Bermuda, which was also postponed until 2021.

Then, of course, there was the local high school season cancelled.

In March, the Bermuda Olympic Association formally short listed Bobb as a hopeful for its Olympic team for the 2020 Games in Tokyo. The Games were then postponed, even before she could be fitted for the team’s traditional Bermuda shorts ensemble. Everything is pushed back a year.

For now, she is just one of many Harford athletes in waiting, doing light workouts on her own and looking ahead to next year.
