Tyrone Smith competed in his First IAAF Diamond League Meet of the season when he lined up for the Men’s Long Jump in Rabat.
Among the prime candidates to provide sparks on the night in the Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah were long jumpers Luvo Manyonga, South Africa’s world champion, and Cuba’s 20-year-old Juan Miguel Echevarria, who produced a wind-assisted effort of 8.92m in March and always looks on the verge of doing something similar in more record-friendly conditions.
Echevarria did not disappoint as he won with a top leap of 8.34m, Manyonga was second with a leap of 8.21m and his fellow South African Ruswahl Samaai finished third leaping 8.16m.
Smith finished 9th with a top leap of 7.49m.
