BSSF Primary School Cross Country Championships

Over 550 Primary School runners competed at the Bermuda School Sports Federation Primary School Cross Country Championships. Saltus Grammar School was the big winner winning three of the four team competitions with Warwick Academy spoiling the sweep by winning the Over 9 Girls Division.

Parker Howard from the Bermuda High School was the first to cross the line in the Under 9 Girls race with a time of 9:37. She was followed by Teagan Scott-Hanley from Mount Saint Agnes Academy in 9:53 in second and Purvis Primary’s Zoe Talbot in third in 10:00. Saltus Grammar School won the Team Title after needing a time breaker to overcome Harrington Sound Primary who finished level on points with the winners. Both teams finished on 93 points while Warwick Academy finished third with 104 points.

Saltus were clear winners in the Under 9 Boys race after sweeping the winners podium. Nolan Horrobin led the Saltus trio with Connor Kane finishing in second and Josh Cann finishing third. Saltus easily won the Team Division with 34 points. Warwick Academy finished second with 73 with West Pembroke Primary coming third with 106 points.

Female Front Street Mile winner Naomi McGuinness from Warwick Academy ran the fastest time including all boys in the longer Over 9 course. McGuinness stopped the clock in 9:53 nearly a minute ahead of second place runner Zaya Zuill from Harrington Sound Primary who finished with a time of 10:45. Piper Howard from Bermuda High School rounded out the top three with a time of 10:54. Warwick Academy won the Team event with 48 points. Saltus Grammar School finished in second with 82 points followed by BHS in third with 89 points.

Saltus Grammar School had all five scoring runners finishing in the top eight places to secure the Over 9 Boys Team Title. Liam Horrobin led all Saltus runners in winning the race with a time of 10:04. Prospect Primary’s Shiloh Stevens finished second in 10:13 with Harrington Sound Primary’s Khaleef Daley finishing third in 10:21. Saltus won the team title with 26 points. Prospect Primary finished second with 101 points and Warwick Academy finished third with 186 points
