Five Sailors Compete in Italy

The 2nd World Youth Sailing Week organized by Vela Garda Trentino came to life when the youngsters took to the waters for the start of the 32nd Meeting del Garda Optimist in Italy.

Five Optimist sailors from Bermuda are sailing at Lake Garda, Italy in the World’s largest Optimist regatta.

The competitors representing Bermuda include Campbell Patton, Matilda Nicholls, Flo Nicholls, Luke Madeiros, and Ethan Madeiros.

Bermuda has Two competitors in the competitor 187 A Division Fleet that completed two races.

Flo Nicholls is in 41st place with 50 points, Nicholls crossed the line 20th in the first race and 30th in the second race.

Ethan Madeiros Did Not Compete in either race.

Bermuda has three competitors in the 615 competitor Division B Juniors Fleet.

Patton currently leads the Bermuda Fleet in the Class, he is in 47th place with 49 points. Patton recorded finishes of 10th, 24th and 15th in the three races sailed on Day One.

In 52nd place is Matilda Nicholls with 50 points. Nicholls finished 5th in the first race, 27th in the second race and 18th in the third race.

Luke Madeiros is in 408th place with 234 points, Madeiros finished 102nd in the first race, 90th in the second race and he Did Not Compete in the third race.
