Trott Talks Future as West Ham Contract Set to Run Out

IslandStats.com
Nathan Trott has confessed that he does not know where his future lies but has not ruled out a new contract at West Ham.

While West Ham have a number of excellent, young and exciting keepers in their ranks, it is going to be incredibly difficult for any of them to get a chance to prove themselves while Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski are at the club.

Unfortunately, that could mean losing multiple of these players, with Trott being the first one who could go. Once a highly-rated youngster, the 25-year-old is yet to have an opportunity in the first team and, despite some successful loan spells, that is unlikely to change.

However, Trott has refused to rule out a new contract with the Hammers even though he has no real path to making it past third-choice.

“I’m not focused on my contract situation with West Ham right now, that would just be a distraction, so I’ll leave that to my agent,” Trott, who is currently on loan at Danish side Vejle, told Bold.

“I’ll just keep playing and then we’ll see in the summer what my options are. Of course, I’ll have to talk to West Ham and look at my other options.”

“It’s too early to say where I would like to play. I enjoy life in Vejle. The Superliga is a good league, there are many good teams and healthy competition. I wouldn’t mind staying for another season.”

In all honesty, it feels pretty unlikely that he will be offered a new deal by the club but, if he is, it is important he has a long think about signing it and what will be the most beneficial for his career.
