Chelsea striker Mia Fishel has torn an anterior cruciate ligament while training with the United States.
It is Chelsea's second ACL injury in as many months after striker Sam Kerr was ruled out for the rest of the season in January.
USA forward Fishel, 22, joined Chelsea from Mexican club Tigres on a three-year contract in August.
She has made 10 Women's Super League (WSL) appearances this season, scoring once.
"Mia will be assessed by a specialist in the coming days and will then begin her rehabilitation with the club's medical team at Cobham," Chelsea said.
Fishel was with the USA National Squad for the upcoming CONCACAF W Gold Cup when she sustained an injury to her right knee.
She has been replaced in the group by veteran forward Alex Morgan.
"I'm gutted for Mia, and I know the team and the entire staff is as well," interim US coach Twila Kilgore said.
"She's been very effective in camp and has worked hard to make an impact."
San Diego Wave FC forward Alex Morgan will replace forward Fishel.
