The PHC Zebras picked up their third trophy of the season and the first of 2018 as they defeated the North Village Rams 2 – 0 at the Wellington Oval in the Bermuda Football Association’s Friendship Trophy Final.
The PHC Zebras entered the final for a third straight time and came away with the win infront of a packed house in the East End.
After a scoreless first half that saw both teams create chances but could not make any advantage count, Marco Warren would bring the crowd to their feet in the 61st minute.
Warren was put through from a pass off the boot of Marquel Waldron and he cut the ball back and beat Tahj Bell with a right footed shot.
PHC went in search of a second and it came when the North Village Rams failed to clear the ball and two crosses resulted in the ball hitting the crossbar and before Daren Usher would slam the ball into the net from close range, thus ending the game as a contest.
Southampton Rangers 2 Paget Lions 1
This Shield Final derby between the Southampton Rangers and Paget Lions was always going to be an evenly balanced affair at the Wellington Oval.
The Southampton Rangers put early pressure on the Paget Lions with constant crosses and shots that saw Paget Lions goalkeeper Jason Smith busy.
But in the 26th minute Smith could not deny Jahkai Dyer who scored from close range to give the Southampton Rangers the lead.
Southampton Rangers would take that 1 – 0 lead to the break, however the Paget Lions would give themselves a lifeline when Davin Dill equalized.
However the Southampton Rangers would get another go ahead goal and this time it would prove to be the winner from Donte Brangman.
