Following a meeting in Mexico City during the occasion of the FIFA /CONCACAF Congress between the Caribbean Football Union President, General Secretary, Chairman of the Competitions Committee, Director of Competitions and officials from French Guiana, Dominican Republic and Bermuda Football Association officials it was decided that the following will apply with regards to the playing of the group matches, in particular, the match involving Bermuda vs Dominican Republic:
1. The Bermuda vs Dominican Republic game will be played as per the original schedule on June 4th.
2. All other fixtures will remain as per the original schedule.
2. Bermuda has a maximum of seven (7) days (May 19th) in which to officially provide, in writing to the CFU Secretariat an alternate neutral venue for the match on June 4th.
3. This neutral venue is to be within the CONCACAF region ONLY.
The above decisions were taken after both French Guiana and Dominican Republic would not agree with the CFU’s previous decision to change the schedule to allow the match between Bermuda and Dominican Republic to be played on June 7th in Bermuda instead of June 4th. The CFU officials informed the meeting that the decision to amend the schedule was taken incorrectly as a result of the Bermuda National Sports Center being unavailable on the originally scheduled date.
The Bermuda Football Association also considered other venues in Bermuda but they were either unavailable or do not meet minimum standards to host a full international “A” match.
