Hudderfield Chairman - No Surprise on Wells Rumors

IslandStats.com
Dean Hoyle says rumors of continued interest in Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells come as no surprise.

But the chairman while speaking with the Huddersfield Examiner remains relaxed over the future of the 25-year-old Bermudian international.

Wells has fired in 18 goals this season, with his 17 in the league making him joint fourth-top second-tier scorer.

Every transfer window brings stories of supposed interest in Town’s £1.3m record buy from Bradford City.

And Hoyle, who sanctioned the Wells purchase in January 2014, knows the next will be no different.

“Nahki has two years left on his contract, we want him and (head coach) David Wagner wants him,” he said.

“As a club, we have no financial need to sell, and Nahki is happy and settled here.

“Of course he has aspirations to play at the highest level he can, and every player should have.

“But we think he can really help us push on, and hopefully Nahki does too.”

Town, in 16th, will be up against another 18-goal striker in their penultimate Championship game at Bristol City on Saturday.

Frenchman Jonathan Kodjia, 26, was a £2m summer buy from Angers.

He scored in Bristol’s 2-1 win at the John Smith’s Stadium in December.

City, in 20th, are now seeking a third double of the season after Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.
