Wells and Huddersfield Bow Out of English FA Cup

Nahki Wells and his Huddersfield Town teammates went down 5 – 2 against Reading in front of 8,119 at the Madejski Stadium, with 635 Town fans, in their FA Challenge Cup Replay.

In the 9th minute Huddrsfield went in front when Jamie Paterson smashed the ball between the Reading goalkeeper and the post from a Wells' pass. Seven minutes later it was 2 – 0 as Emyr Huws headed onto the bar before Tommy Smith picked up the ball and slammed it home.

In the 22nd minute Huws put Wells through with an excellent pass, but Wells attempted to round the Reading goalkeeper who made a brave save at the feet of Wells.

Four minutes later Huddersfield were reduced to 10 men when Jon Hogg was shown a straight red card after bringing down Reading striker Vydra, the referee judged Hogg to be the last man.

It was 2 – 1 in the 29th minute as Chelsea loanee Lucas Piazon stepped up and fired a 20 yard free-kick home.

In the 58th minute reading drew level, Huddersfield had a corner, but Reading cleared and was on the break with Hudderfield’s goalkeeper Joe Murphy able to save the initial shot from Matej Vydra, but he could not prevent the striker from scoring on the rebound. Three minutes later Reading took the lead with another goal from Vydra.

In the 90th minute with Huddersfield pushing everyone forward, Vydra was put through and completed his hat-trick and then in the 4th minute of injury time Reading netted again, with Alex Fernandez driving home from 25 yards out.
