Barclays Premier League

DJAIR PARFITT-WILLIAMS

Liverpool reject Andy Carroll ended the Reds' recent revival as West Ham secured a deserved 2-0 win at Upton Park.

Djair Parfitt-Williams once again sat behind the bench to watch West Ham record another win.

Carroll, who was let go by former Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers after just 18 months on Merseyside, scored with a trademark header to sink his old club.

West Ham were already leading through Michail Antonio's early goal when, nine minutes after half-time, Mark Noble floated in a cross and Carroll powered the ball home.

The goal clearly meant a lot to the striker as he celebrated wildly, with the Hammers registering back-to-back wins while ending Liverpool's run of two straight victories.

Sky Bet Championship

NAHKI WELLS

Joe Lolley's third goal in seven games and a late strike from substitute Mustapha Carayol secured Nahki Wells and Huddersfield's 2-0 Sky Bet Championship win over Bolton at the Macron Stadium.

Lolley fired home just after the hour and on-loan Middlesbrough striker Carayol doubled the advantage three minutes from time as David Wagner's improving side overcame a slow start to make it three games unbeaten and a league double over the bottom-of-the-table side.

Bolton enjoyed their best spell in the first 25 minutes when winger Liam Feeney hit the post. But Huddersfield improved, notably after half-time, and the second half goals completed a seven points holiday haul.

Huddersfield, were devoid of attacking ideas until Wells was put through after 25 minutes. Prince Gouano's tackle was borderline legal but referee Andy Haines gave the Wanderers defender the benefit of the doubt despite howls of protests for a penalty from Town fans.

Sky Bet League One

RAI SIMONS

Chesterfield won their first Sky Bet League One game since late October by thrashing fellow strugglers Shrewsbury 7-1 at the Proact Stadium.

Lee Novak scored a hat-trick while Jay O'Shea and Rai Simons both scored twice, with Zak Whitbread replying for Shrewsbury, who had Junior Brown sent off for two yellow cards.

The game had been in the balance until O'Shea produced a moment of quality in the 28th minute when his volley from the edge of the area flew into the top right corner.

O'Shea scored his second in the 40th minute when Ian Black tripped Sam Morsy in the box and the midfielder drove the penalty to Mark Halstead's right.

Chesterfield sealed victory with another excellent goal in first-half stoppage time.

Novak dispatched Gboly Ariyibi's cross on the half volley from 18 yards and only a fine save from Halstead denied O'Shea his hat-trick in the 50th minute.

Tommy Lee was beaten on his 300th league appearance for Chesterfield when Whitbread scored in the 65th minute but Simons punished poor defending in the 73rd minute.

Brown tripped Ariyibi in the 81st minute to get a second booking and give Novak his second goal from the spot.

Simons struck again in the 88th minute and Novak scored his third 60 seconds later to complete a desperate day for Shrewsbury.

English League Two

REGGIE LAMBE

Accrington roared straight back into good form with a 3-2 away win at Reggie Lambe and his Mansfield teammates.

Stanley had lost for the first time in eight games last time out but deserved the three points here, sealed by two goals in 13 second half minutes.

Mansfield, whose home results all season have been poor, were caught cold by a third-minute goal in a first half in which Stanley could have been out of sight in the first half-hour.
