Braxton Stowe and his University of Saint Louis Baseball teammates dropped the series opener 8-5 to St. Bonaventure on Friday night.
Saint Louis scored early, plating a run in the first and second inning and scoring two in the fifth, but a six-run sixth inning for St. Bonaventure gave them a lead that they never looked back on.
Scott Youngbrandt and Ryan Calhoun both hit their first home runs of the season during the contest. Youngbrandt smacked a two-run shot over the left field wall in the fifth inning, allowing him to go 1-4 on the night with two RBIs and one run scored. Calhoun also finished the game 1-4, including his second inning solo blast to right.
Kevin Jordan went deep for the second time in as many games.
Freshman Cam Redding was 2-4 with one run scored and a walk. He raised his season batting average to a team-leading .338.
Jack Spicer threw 3.1 scoreless innings of relief for Saint Louis. He allowed one inherited runner to score but wrapped up his line with one hit, two walks and six strikeouts.
