The bats were alive and well for Adam Hall and his Aberdeen IronBirds teammates against the Staten Island Yankees in a 5 – 3 victory. Leading the charge with multi-hit games were Robbie Thorburn, Cody Roberts and Robert Neustrom.
The 'Birds got it going early in the first with two runs scoring thanks to RBI base-hits from Cody Roberts and Robert Neustrom. Roberts doubled home a run and then Neustrom followed with a single to score the games second run.
Alfredo Gonzalez came through in the second inning with an RBI line drive base-hit. Gonzalez was down in the count 0-2 but pounced on a hanging breaking ball.
Jackson Thoreson provided some power in the third inning when he smoked a solo dinger into the IronBirds bullpen in right field. It was the Yankee catcher's second homerun of the 2018 campaign.
Gray Fenter had some of his best stuff tonight. He went 5.o innings pitched tonight, striking out 5 Yankee hitters. He only gave up one run on four hits and walked to batters. He secured his third win of the year with Aberdeen.
Robert Neustrom collected his second RBI of the night when he doubled in the 5th. Then in the 6th, JC Escarra added to the big night with an RBI basehit of his own to make it 5-1 'Birds.
Robert Neustrom was fantastic tonight for the IronBirds. He had himself a three hit night, including two RBI's and two doubles. It was his 4th multi-hit affair in his last six games played.
Robbie Thorburn also had himself a multi-hit game. He now leads the team in batting average at .313. He has been a main stay in the 'Birds offense all summer long.
Hall had 2 Hits in 4 At Bats, which included a Single, a Double and a Strike Out.
