IslandStats.com
The Y.A.O Baseball season came to an end with the Cubs defeating the Marlins 10 - 5.

The Cubs were led by strong pitching, with playoff MVP Riley Rego pitching two strong innings. Rookie Sam Resnik pitched 3 solid innings, striking out 2 walking none and giving up two runs, earning the win for the Cubs.

Aiden Washington, another Rookie pitched a strong 6th inning striking out two, walking one and giving up one run. Josh Allen came in to close out the game in the 7th.

Offensively the Cubs were led by Connor Somerville, with two hits and two RBI’s. Josh Allen and Frankie Arnold also contributed, with each scoring twice.

Though the Cubs jumped out to an early lead the Marlins did not fold.

Marlins were led by Dylan Somerville and Dariyon Davis, both going 2 for 3, Billy Montgomery chipped in with 2 runs scored as well.

Pitching, Liam McCue and Montgomery led the Marlins, both going 1 2/3, with McCue striking out 2 and not giving up any runs. Montgomery struck out 4 in his stint.

Both teams should be commended on solid play this weekend and throughout the year.

This has been one of the most successful seasons for the Babe Ruth aged kids (13-16) with a few playing Baseball for the first time. It was also the first year allowing 16 year olds, which has been a great success and will continue on in 2017.
