ITF/COTECC Under 12 Team Tournament
Bermuda began competing in the ITF/COTECC Under 12 Team Tournament in the Dominican Republic.
The Bermuda team of Dexter Snaith, Jaden Jones and Hasan Khan are in Group B alongside the Dominican Republic One team, and Puerto Rico.
Bermuda took on the Dominican Republic One team in their opener and went down 3 – 0.
Snaith was first on the court he went down in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Jones was next on the court and he would fall in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.
Snaith would then join Khan for the Doubles, they went down in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
Coach Gavin Manders said, “Tough start but they are the best team here on paper, the Bermuda Team is in good spirits and ready for a must win against Puerto Rico tomorrow.”
A day after rain prevented any play, the Deloitte Tennis Open got underway at the Pomander Gate Tennis Club.
In Men’s A Singles action David Leader defeated Wilfred Gonsalves in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, while Wayne Montgomery defeated Felipe Palacios in straight sets 6–0, 6–0.
In Men’s A Doubles, Neil Towlson and Trey Mallory defeated Rob de Bekker and Michelle Gavin-Rizzuto 6–1, 6–0, while William Boyle and Dylan Powell defeated John Masters and Oliver Brind 6–1, 6–4. Christopher Weeks and Tariq Simons defeated Christopher Grasso and Neville Weston 6–1, 6–0.
