Following the recently concluded Craig Bean Memorial Championships 2020 at the Fairmont Southampton Tennis Courts, www.islandstats.com spoke with the Tournament Organizer Gavin Manders and Menís Singles Open Champion Tariq Simons.
Simons would take on Manders in the Final, Manders suffering from a torn calf muscle was defeated in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
Earlier in the tournament, a bumper crowd showed up for the match many have been waiting for which pitted Menís Number One Simons against Daniel Phillips who is in the Rafa Nadal Academy.
The pair took to the court and battled in a match that went on for more than two and a half hours.
Simons won the first set 6-4, he would then win the second set 7-6 to win the match in straight sets.
On the Ladies' side, Morgan Lightbourne and Kirstin Saltus battled in the Womenís A Singles Final. Lightbourne would win the first set 6-1, but Saltus would draw level winning the second set 6-3, the match would then be decided in a third and final set that saw Saltus in her final match before heading off to school winning 6-4.
