Just as it did in the Finals of the Manders Tennis Management Championships, back on January 11th, the Manders Tennis Management Covid Championships came to an exciting end at the Fairmont Tennis Courts.
Gavin Manders once again on the court for the Final facing off against his Davis Cup teammate youngster Tariq Simons. Manders was looking to avenge his defeat that happened five months earlier, while Simons was looking to stamp his claim to the number one ranking.
Manders jumped out to an early lead in the first set 3 – 0, but Simons would fight back to win six of the next seven games to take the First Set 6-4.
Both players were guilty of not being able to hold their serves, the second set was much of the same as the pair battled, but it was Simons who would be able to hold his nerve and for the second final in a row he was able to defeat Manders winning the Second Set 7-5.
In the Ladies Final, Kirsten Saltus and Morgan Lightbourne went toe-to-toe in a three set battle. Saltus would win the First Set 6-3, but Lightbourne fought back to win the Second Set 6-3, Saltus would than gather herself in the Third and Final Set to win 6-1.
Antonio Warner claimed the Open B Title when he defeated Cooper McGuire in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
