Bermudian high jump star Sakari Famous continued her impressive indoor form this week, securing top spot on the podium at the JD Martin Invitational 2026. Competing at the Oklahoma-Mosier Indoor Track in Norman, Oklahoma, Famous delivered a clinical performance to win the Women’s High Jump against a competitive collegiate and open field.
The 26-year-old entered the competition at the 1.73m mark, showcasing her experience by clearing the height on her very first attempt. As the bar was raised to 1.78m, Famous maintained her flawless record, soaring over the bar on her first try to effectively seal the victory.
With the win secured, the bar was moved to 1.83m as Famous looked to push toward her indoor national record. Despite three determined efforts, she was unable to clear the height on this occasion, but her winning leap of 1.78m was more than enough to claim the gold medal.
This latest success in Oklahoma further solidifies Famous’s standing as one of the region’s premier jumpers. Having already established herself as a national record holder, her ability to consistently clear heights nearing the 1.80m mark early in the season bodes well for her upcoming international commitments.
The JD Martin Invitational win serves as a perfect stepping stone for Famous as she continues to build momentum toward the major outdoor championships later this year.
