The Somerset Trojans have officially reclaimed their status in Bermuda’s Premier Division, following a decision by the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) to award the side a default victory over Vasco da Gama.
The promotion, which returns the historic West End club to the top tier with two games to spare, was confirmed after Vasco forfeited their match at the Somerset Cricket Club this past Sunday. The fixture had been a source of initial confusion, having been listed as canceled on official schedules before being formally ruled a 3-0 default win for the Trojans.
For head coach Jensen Rogers, the promotion marks the culmination of a deliberate "execution year" aimed at ending the club's two-season stint in the second tier.
"We really have not had a time to celebrate it as we have two matches remaining," Rogers told islandstats.com. "We have completed the first part of our goals to get promotion, now we need to execute the rest of the mission."
The Trojans have been in formidable form throughout the 2025-26 campaign.
While the primary objective of promotion has been secured, the Trojans' work for the season is not yet complete. The side currently sits atop the First Division standings, leading Robin Hood on goal difference with a crucial game in hand.
With remaining fixtures against Southampton Rangers and a potential title-deciding clash with Robin Hood on March 22nd, the focus has already shifted to securing the silverware.
"We still have two games left, and hopefully, we can achieve our final goal of winning the league," Rogers concluded.
