Luton Town booked their place in the Vertu Trophy final at Wembley as they came from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory over Northampton Town at Kenilworth Road.
Luton Town found themselves trailing at the interval following a first-half header from Kyle McAdam, but they emerged with renewed purpose after the break. The equalizer arrived eight minutes into the second half through the clinical Nahki Wells. Midfielder Liam Walsh provided the spark, playing a sharp reverse pass to find Jordan Clark, whose pinpoint cross allowed Wells to ghost in at the far post for a simple tap-in. It marked the Bermudian international's seventh goal of a productive campaign.
As the contest appeared destined for a penalty shootout, Walsh capped a standout individual performance by grabbing the winner eight minutes from time. His deflected strike from the edge of the area found the back of the net to spark wild celebrations and set up a highly anticipated final against Stockport County later this month.
In the Combined Counties Premier Division South, Brighton Morrison made his return to English football following a stint in Spain. Having successfully overcome recent injury setbacks, Morrison went straight into the starting line-up for Badshot Lea FC as they hosted Tadley Calleva FC at the Westfield Lane Grounds. Despite a bright start from the midfielder, the Baggies were unable to find a breakthrough and ultimately fell to a 2-0 defeat.
Further down the pyramid, Zhani Burgess and his Quorn FC teammates were involved in an extraordinary eight-goal thriller at Bury Town's Ram Meadow. After trailing 4-1 an hour into the match, Quorn staged a remarkable recovery initiated by a 24-minute hat-trick from Zak Goodson. While Simeon Cobourne’s first-half strike had kept them within touching distance, it was the late resurgence from Burgess and the defensive unit that allowed Quorn to snatch a point in a frantic 4-4 draw.
