David Bascome’s Baltimore Blast produced a spirited second-half resurgence to overcome a two-goal deficit and defeat the St. Louis Ambush 5–4 in a pulsating Major Arena Soccer League encounter at The Family Arena. The victory, secured in the dying minutes of regulation, showcased the tactical flexibility and mental fortitude that have become hallmarks of the Blast under their Bermudian head coach.
The opening exchanges belonged to the hosts, as Riley Urie ignited the home crowd with a tenth-minute strike to put the Ambush ahead. Baltimore responded quickly through Jairo Guevara, who found an equaliser less than two minutes later, but Urie struck again before the end of the first period to restore the St. Louis advantage. When James Togbah extended the lead to 3–1 in the second quarter, it appeared the Blast were facing a mountain to climb on the road.
The interval proved to be a turning point as Bascome’s side emerged with renewed intensity for the third quarter. Alejandro Chavez sparked the comeback early in the period, followed shortly by a leveller from Jonatas Melo. Although Mario Falsone briefly regained the lead for St. Louis at 4–3, the momentum had firmly shifted toward the visitors.
The final quarter was a testament to Baltimore’s endurance and clinical finishing. With just three minutes remaining on the clock, Oumar Sylla drew the Blast level for the third time in the match. The dramatic climax arrived barely sixty seconds later when Wellington Bramusse found the back of the net to give Baltimore their first lead of the evening. The Blast defense then stood firm under immense pressure to see out the remaining time and secure a vital win that keeps them firmly in the hunt for post-season positioning.
