Bermuda face a moment of truth tomorrow as they host rivals Trinidad & Tobago in a CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier that is already being branded as crucial for the national team’s 2026 hopes.
The match, set for a 7:00 PM kick-off at the Flora Duffy South Field Stadium within the National Sports Center, marks the start of the October FIFA window and a critical juncture in Group B.
Bermuda entered the third and final round of qualifying after an impressive run in the second round, but their start to the final phase has been challenging. With no points taken from their opening two World Cup qualifiers in September, the team currently sits at the bottom of the four-team group.
Bermuda suffered a 4-0 defeat at home to Jamaica before a spirited comeback effort fell short in a 3-2 loss away to Curaçao, where goals from Kane Crichlow and Djair Parfitt saw them level the score before eventually conceding the winner.
Bermuda must now convert their fighting spirit into points, starting with a victory over Trinidad and Tobago, who currently sit just ahead of them in the standings.
The focus is now squarely on securing three points tomorrow to reignite the dream of advancing to the 2026 World Cup. The Bermuda Football Association has called on fans to "paint the stands pink" and provide a deafening home advantage at the Flora Duffy South Field Stadium (which boasts a capacity of over 4,000 spectators) for what promises to be a tense affair against Trinidad & Tobago.
The team will then travel to face Jamaica in Kingston on Tuesday, October 14th. Failure to take maximum points at home against Trinidad and Tobago would make the remaining four fixtures a near impossible mountain to climb.
