Smith's Rhode Island FCEarn Jägermeister Cup Revenge

Head Coach Khano Smith saw his Rhode Island FC (RIFC) exact revenge on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Highmark Stadium in their second USL Jägermeister Cup Group Stage match.

Just a week after a narrow defeat to Bob Lilley's Pittsburgh side in Pawtucket, Rhode Island FC turned the tables in Pennsylvania. The decisive moment came when Jojea Kwizera netted his first goal of the season, marking the Ocean State club's historic first-ever goal against the Riverhounds.

Following the breakthrough, RIFC showcased impressive defensive resilience, shutting out the Riverhounds to secure a vital clean sheet. This victory keeps Rhode Island FC at the top of Group 4 in the USL Jägermeister Cup.

Next up for Khano Smith's side is a return to USL Championship regular-season action. They will be back at Centreville Bank Stadium to host Miami FC on Saturday, June 7th.

Christopher's Fort Lauderdale United FC Advance to Playoffs

Meanwhile, Bermudian forward Nia Christopher and her Fort Lauderdale United FC teammates travelled across the country for a crucial, season-defining clash against Spokane Zephyr FC.

The two clubs, who previously met in the opening match of the inaugural USL Super League campaign back in August, faced each other once again with everything on the line in the final match of the regular season. In a tense encounter, Fort Lauderdale emerged victorious with a 1-0 win. This hard-fought victory secured Fort Lauderdale United FC's place in the USL Super League Playoffs.
