AIJC Golf Alumni Returning to Bermuda in August 2025

IslandStats.com
The Biennial Atlantic International Junior Championship (AIJC) Alumni Reunion is scheduled for August 11th - 14th at Belmont Hills, The Mid Ocean Club and Port Royal Golf Courses.

After the resounding success of the 2023 event, AIJC alumni, friends and family will return to the island for another 4 days of camaraderie, reminiscing and exceptional golf. Confirmed participants for 2025 include past champions Christine Decarie and Murray McCrossin from Canada, Nic Mansell from the UK, Ken Siegfried from the US and local players Geoff Blee and Jon Ingham.

The 2023 edition attracted accomplished players from the UK, US, Canada and Bermuda and featured some under par rounds and a win for Bermuda in the team competition. The glowing reviews of the event were echoed by participants who plan to return this year. “I had the great privilege to be part of the AIJC tournaments 3 times as a teenager.

The 2023 reunion was truly heartfelt and quite emotional as I got to see and meet the great friends that I had made back then. It made me feel 40 years younger all of a sudden!! We had such a wonderful time and I’m looking forward to the 2025 event”, noted former Canadian national team member Eve-Lyne Biron.

Local Bermudian pro Scott Roy said, “It was exciting to hear how much of an impact the AIJC had not only for Bermuda, but for the juniors who visited Bermuda to play in the event. To be able to keep in contact and nurture those friendships for many years afterwards proves the positive impacts of golf, not only for competitive fun sports but for the social dynamic as well. I look forward to seeing everyone again this year.”

The tournament committee has strengthened the course rota for 2025 with a round at The Mid Ocean Club and will once again feature a mix of four ball formats, team competition and individual prizes on the final day.

“The committee also hopes that we will have more locals participate in this year’s event. If unable to golf, we encourage Bermudian alumni to attend the social events which will include a Monday night beach barbecue at The Reefs, a Wednesday night cruise on the Uber Vida and a closing dinner on Thursday night at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.”

“In addition to rekindling past memories and battling for bragging rights, participants will once again be playing for a worthy cause as any remaining proceeds will support the Bermuda Island Games Association.”

The deadline for alumni registration is July 30. For anyone with questions, please submit via our website: www.eventcreate.com/e/aijcreunion, or you can send an email to phil.aijc@gmail.com or geoffblee@icloud.com.
