The medals for the eagerly anticipated Orkney Island Games have been revealed, marking the 100-day countdown to the start of this historic sporting event.
From July 12th to 18th, the Orkney Islands are preparing to welcome approximately 2,000 athletes from 24 island groups, including Bermuda, who will compete across 12 different sports.
This year's Games hold special significance, as it is the first time Orkney has had the honor of hosting the Island Games in its 40-year history. This landmark occasion is set to be the biggest sporting event ever held in the islands.
The 20th International Island Games will bring together athletes from across the globe to compete in a diverse range of sporting disciplines.
Orkney is gearing up to host not only the athletes but also the coaches and spectators from numerous island nations. The event is envisioned as a celebration of both athletic competition and the unique spirit of island communities, fostering camaraderie and cultural exchange.
With the 100-day mark now reached, the focus has turned to the medals that will be awarded to the victorious athletes. Creative Orkney and Orkney 2025 collaborated on a competition to design the medals and their accompanying ribbons, adding a local artistic touch to the prestigious awards.
