The Cedarberry Bowl Junior Golf Tournament got underway at Belmont Hills Golf Club, with competitors navigating challenging conditions. While most avoided heavy showers, they faced the added difficulty of increased winds during the back nine.
The opening round saw some impressive performances, with leaders emerging in the various divisions.
Blue Championships Division
Oliver Betschart carded the low score of the day, a 2-over par 72, to take the lead in the Blue Championships Division. Despite a late stumble, Betschart had a strong round before his final hole.
He was sitting at 3-under par through 17 holes, recording 5 Birdies, 10 Pars, and 2 Bogeys, but a disastrous 9 on the final hole pushed him to 2-over par.
White Championship Division
Lewis MacFarlane leads the White Championship Division after carding a 9-over par 79. MacFarlane's round included 2 Birdies, 8 Pars, 6 Bogeys, 1 Double Bogey, and 1 Triple Bogey.
Red 9-Hole Division
Joshua Cann leads the Red 9-Hole Division using the Stableford Points system, accumulating 20 points.
