 Tajer Basden IslandStats.com Livingstone College hosted its 2nd annual Livingstone Blue Bear Invitational Track and Field Meet at Memorial Stadium, an event that saw student-athletes, coaches, and spectators gather for a day of competition.
The meet featured a unique family connection, with siblings Brijette Basden and Tajer Basden representing different universities.
Brijette Basden competed for Shaw University Women's Track & Field. She took part in the Women's 100m Dash, finishing 34th with a time of 13.14 seconds. Brijette also raced in the Women's 200m Dash, clocking 26.83 seconds to finish 28th overall. Brijette also ran the anchor leg for the Shaw University Women's 4x400m Relay A team, which finished 6th with a time of 4:23.29.
Tajer Basden represented Johnson C. Smith. He competed in the Men's 200m Dash, finishing in 42nd place with a time of 23.51 seconds. Tajer also participated in the Men's 400m Dash, finishing 19th overall in 51.18 seconds. Tajer ran the third leg for the Johnson C. Smith Men's 4x400m Relay A Team, which finished 5th with a time of 3:26.59.
The Livingstone Blue Bear Invitational provided a platform for athletes from various universities to compete and showcase their talent. The meet was particularly notable for featuring the Basden siblings, Brijette and Tajer, representing different institutions. Their performances highlighted their commitment to track and field and their contributions to their respective teams.
