Just days after the previous meet, where one athlete qualified, this event saw further success for Bermudian athletics.
Amara Samuels delivered a standout performance in the Under 17 Women’s 100 Meter Dash. Samuels clocked a winning time of 12.17 seconds, surpassing the Carifta Qualifying Standard time of 12.35 seconds.
Riana Robinson also achieved Carifta Qualifying Standard in the Under 17 Women's 1500 Meter Run. Robinson crossed the finish line in a winning time of 5:05.28, meeting the qualifying standard time of 5:06.00.
While there were successes, there were also near misses. Suri Russell came close to qualifying in the Under 17 Men’s 400 Meter Dash. He clocked a time of 51.32 seconds, but this fell just short of the Qualifying Standard time of 50.44 seconds. Despite not qualifying, Russell's effort demonstrated his potential and his commitment to the sport.
The Carifta Games Trial Meet showcased the talent and dedication of Bermuda's young athletes. The achievements of Samuels and Robinson, who secured their qualification, were the highlights of the event. The BNAA's commitment to providing opportunities for athletes to compete and strive for excellence was evident.
