The Department of Sport and Recreation hosted the 43rd Annual Sports Awards, an evening dedicated to celebrating the outstanding achievements of Bermuda’s athletes, coaches, and sports administrators. The event took place at the Harbourview Ballroom, Hamilton Princess and Beach Club. Recognizing the dedication and perseverance of the island’s sporting community, the ceremony honored those who have demonstrated exceptional talent and commitment to their disciplines.
Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, Owen Darrell, offered congratulations and expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating: "Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Sports Awards and to all the nominated athletes. The awards were a celebration of the passion, dedication, and resilience of our athletes and sports professionals who continue to make Bermuda proud. Their achievements inspire not only their peers but also the next generation of sporting talent.
“Sport teaches us discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, and these qualities extend far beyond the field of play. This event honors those who embody these values and to acknowledge the crucial role sport plays in strengthening our community."
This year’s theme, "Rising to Greatness: Celebrating Excellence in Sport," paid tribute to those whose remarkable efforts continue to inspire future generations of Bermudian athletes.
Among the distinguished awardees, Jack Harvey was named Male Athlete of the Year, while Yushae DeSilva-Andrade earned the title of Female Athlete of the Year. Elijah Daley and Katherine Wheddon were recognised as Male and Female Junior Athletes of the Year, respectively. The Senior Achievement Awards were presented to Jack Harvey, Conor White, Tyler Smith, Jah-Nhai Perinchief, Jessica Lewis, Emma Harvey, Yushae DeSilva-Andrade, and Flora Duffy, highlighting their significant contributions to sport. Meanwhile, Manders Tennis Movement and Tabata-Ha Shotokan were honoured with the Appreciation Award for their dedication to fostering athletic growth.
Additional accolades included the Team of the Year Award, which was presented to both the Bermuda Women’s National Volleyball Team and the Bermuda Men’s National Cricket Team. The Special Recognition Award was given to Olympians Erica Hawley and Adrianna Penruddocke, along with Eric West & Johnathan James and the PAB Open Elite Team. Minister’s Sports Awards were presented to Domico Coddington (football), Taznae Fubler (football), Derrick Brangman (cricket), and Brianna Ray (cricket), recognizing their excellence and dedication to their respective sports.
Minister Darrell concluded, “The evening was a true celebration of Bermuda’s rich sporting culture, honoring both seasoned and emerging talent who continue to inspire national pride.”
