A day of improved conditions at Ocean View Golf Course saw Damian Palanyandi and Tracy Nash emerge as the stars of the Bermuda Golf Association's March Monthly Medal event, claiming victory in the Men's 1st Flight and Ladies Divisions respectively.
With the wind subsiding and the sun breaking through, golfers were treated to a more favourable day on the course, although tricky green conditions still presented a challenge. Palanyandi navigated these challenges masterfully, posting a 5-over par 75 to secure the top spot in the Men's 1st Flight. Jonathan James finished a close second, just one stroke behind on 76, while Hav Trott finished third, a further stroke adrift.
In the Ladies Division, Nash mirrored Palanyandi's performance, also carding a 5-over par 75 to claim victory. Tracy Burgess finished second with a 6-over par 76, and Darina Betschart took third place with a 9-over par 79.
Junior golfer Isaiah O'Brien showcased his talent in the Men's 2nd Flight Division, finishing atop the leaderboard with a 16-over par 86. Isaac Davis secured second place with a 10-over par 90, and Mel Caines finished third with a 23-over par 93.
The Junior Division saw Hugo Adams make a triumphant return to the course, amassing an impressive 59 points in the Stableford format to claim victory. Damian Moniz finished second with 47 points, and Nathan Carreiro took third place with 38 points.
In the closest-to-the-pin competitions, Ed Frey won the Men’s Flight 2 prize on the 2nd hole, while Burgess claimed the Ladies prize on the 7th. Darina Betschart won the Juniors prize on the 16th, and Arman Newton won the Men’s Flight 1 prize on the 18th.
The March Monthly Medal provided a day of competitive golf and impressive performances, showcasing the talent and dedication of Bermuda's golfing community. The victories of Palanyandi, Nash, O'Brien, and Adams highlight the diverse range of talent within the Bermuda Golf Association, from seasoned veterans to promising juniors.
