The day began with a dominant display from the Cardinals, as they opened the tournament with a resounding 40-0 victory over Cincinnati. The momentum continued in their second pool play match against Pitt, a contest that would later serve as a preview of the championship final. In the semi-final, Wheeling faced West Virginia University (WVU), and continued their undefeated streak with a decisive 41-0 victory, setting up a highly anticipated championship clash against Pitt.
The final match of the day saw Wheeling and Pitt clash once more, this time with the tournament title on the line. Wheeling delivered a clinical performance, securing a comprehensive 46-0 victory to claim the championship.
