The Bermuda Golf Association (BGA) confirmed a previous report by www.islandstats.com that both the Men’s and Women’s champions, winner of the Bermuda Match Play Championship, a WAGR-sanctioned event hosted at Port Royal April 11th-13th, 2025, will receive an exempted invitation to compete in the prestigious 2025 North & South Championship at Pinehurst June 22-28th, 2025.
Set against the iconic backdrop of Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4, the North & South Championship remains one of amateur golf’s most esteemed tournaments. As the longest-running national amateur event in the United States, it has been a proving ground for future stars, including legendary winners such as Jack Nicklaus, Curtis Strange, and Bermuda’s very own Michael Sims, who claimed victory in the North & South Championship in 1995.
Bermuda has a long-standing relationship with Pinehurst, a connection that has been nurtured over the years through various tournaments and player development initiatives. This latest opportunity reinforces the commitment of the BGA to providing pathways for Bermuda golfer's to gain invaluable experience against the best amateur players in the world and earn coveted World Amateur Golf Ranking points.
