France got their 2024 Bermuda Rugby Classic off to a winning start with a 28-10 victory over Italy.
France jumped out to a 7 - 0 lead when Gauthier Escalais scored a Try, and then he kicked the Conversion, Italy would reply with a Penalty from Benetti Nicola to make it 7 - 3, France would extend their lead with a Try from Sebastian Barberteguy, and a Conversion from Escalais to take a 14-3 lead to the break.
France would move ahead 21 - 3 after a Try and Conversion from Guillaume Decazaux, Italy would once again get on the scoreboard as Albertaric Geronimo scored a Try, and Nicola added a Conversion, but France would then close out the scoring with a Try from Aurelien Sourouille, and a Conversion from Escalais.
South Africa 74 Classic Lions 7
In the second match of the day South Africa hammered the Classic Lions 74 - 7 in one of the biggest scores the Classic has seen in recent years.
South Africa got three Try’s from JJ Engelbrecht, and two from Andries Coetzee, while Zane Kirchner, Rosko Speckman, Ruan Pienaar, Abonga Nkwelo, Quintin Geldenhuys, Willem Albertus, and Sam Gerber all added a Try each.
Pienaar kicked 3 Conversions, Gerhard Munro added two Conversions, while Coetzee, Speckman, and Albertus all added a Conversion.
Renegades RFC 15 Teachers RFC 24
In a local Bermuda Rugby Football Union match, the Teachers defeated the Renegades 24 - 15.
Hadleigh Tucker had a Try, and two Conversions for the Teachers, while Daren Richardson, Dzuri Gill, and Tyler Kendal all added a Try each.
Renegades got a Try from Alex Brown, while Robin Brickell kicked a Penalty, and a Conversion.
