Weeks before the Bermuda media are set to swarm the Port Royal Golf Course for the Butterfield Bermuda Championships, the spotlight was on the Ocean View Golf Course, where 23 of Bermuda’s future golf stars battled it out on Day One of the ICS Tires Cobra Puma Junior Championships.
The Boys 14-16 Age Group Division saw Arman Newton leading the pack with an impressive First Round 3-over par 73. Hot on his heels, Sa-Qui Robinson was just one stroke behind, while Ramsay Soutter is in third place with a round of 16-over par.
In the Boys 11-13 Age Group Division, Cole Graham emerged as the First Round leader with a round of 11-over par 81. Hugo Adams follows in second at 21-over par, and Charles Smith holds third place with a round of 24-over par.
Darina Betschart dominated the Girls Division, shooting a solid First Round 5-over par 75. Juliana Gakundi found herself in second after a challenging round of 55-over par.
In the Novice Division, Daniel Dalene set the pace with a round of 15-over par 50. Cruz Tavares was close behind in second with a First Round 27-over par, and Mason Durrant rounded out the top three with a round of 31-over par.
As these young golfers showcased their talent and determination on Day One, the event buzzed with excitement, hinting at the bright future of Bermuda’s golfing scene.
