Jamin Hodgkins and his Bridgend Ravens Rugby teammates were blown away by table topping Llandovery in their final Indigo Premiership match of the season.
The Ravens got off to the perfect start with Hodgkins slotting a Penalty after just four minutes. Llandovery levelled the scores moments later before the Indigo Premiership’s top try scorer, Taylor Davies, got his first try of the evening after 12 minutes to give Llandovery the lead.
The contest remained reasonably even for the next fifteen minutes, and Hodgkins’ attempt at reducing the arrears from the tee went wayward.
Llandovery made Bridgend pay with a nicely worked try soon after from Rhodri Jones which was converted by Maynard.
The home side weren’t done yet as Taylor Davies scored again and Macs Page ran in a fine solo effort to secure a bonus point before the interval.
The half time score was Llandovery 29 Bridgend 3.
There was no let up from Llandovery in the second period as Adam Warren, Lee Rees and Harri Doel all scored within the first eight minutes of the second period to eradicate any hopes of a Bridgend comeback.
A raft of changes for both sides interrupted the flow of the match a little, but replacement Daf Land was able to get another try for his side as the last quarter approached. The scrum half was on the end of some nice interplay, typical of his side to dot down in the corner.
Bridgend didn’t give up and captain Evan Yardley bundled his way over for a deserved consolation score with 15 minutes to go. Edd Howley stepped his way over for a second Bridgend score soon after, but befitting of the occasion it was Llandovery that had the final say when Harri Doel raced over for a converted score to end proceedings.
