Sophomore Duncan Powell registered the second triple-double in program history (13 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists) to help lead David Patrick’s Sacramento State to a 100 - 45 victory over Bethesda on at the Nest.
Powell joins Marcus Graves as the only two Sacramento State players in school history (1948-pres.) to record a triple-double. Graves had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists at home vs. Simpson in 2018. Powell was the catalyst for a balanced Hornet attack that featured seven players scoring in double figures.
That included Zee Hamoda (14), Powell (13), Alex Kovatchev (12), Austin Patterson (12), Jacob Holt (11), Akol Mawein (10) and Bowyn Beatty (10). Both Hamoda and Patterson shot 4-for-8 from the 3-point line as Sacramento State striped 13 makes from distance (38%, 13-for-34). After falling behind early, 2-0, Sacramento State went on a 36-2 run and never looked back. Sacramento State led by as many as 59 points before settling for the 55-point victory.
