Scraders Wins Gold Medal in the Under 18 Girls 800m Race
The Final Day of Carifta 2014 is in the Evening Session, Bermuda will see the likes of Kyrah Scraders, Dage Minors, Justin Donawa and Chas Smith take part.
Taking to the track for the Under 18 Girls 800m Final Kyrah Scraders went out early with the lead pack, after the first 400m, Scraders had tucked in behind two Jamaican runners, Scraders made her first move at the 250 mark taking over second place, after allowing the other Jamaican runner to pull a few meters away Scraders put on a burst of speed with 60 yards to go and took the lead with some 10 yards remaining and she was able to hold on for the win.
In the Under 20 Boys 3000m race Dage Minors took to the Track and took on 12 other competitors, when the runners crossed the finish line for the first time Minors was in 5th, the pace was slow early in the race with the pack hanging together, Minors had moved up to 4th when they crossed the finish line for the second time. They went cross the finish line for the third time with the clock on 3:08.59 and Minors was still in 4th place. Minors had dropped to 6th place the next time they crossed the finish line with the clock on 4:24.00. The runners started to space out, with Minors once again in 4th place when they came around, Minors tucked into the third place spot for a few laps and looked comfortable, however Minors dropped out, with his Heart rate slowing rapidly and was with medics.
Justin Donawa suffering from back spasms was able to finish 4th during the Under 20 Boys Triple Jump, Donawa had a top leap of 15.22m, while Chas Smith finished 10th leaping 13.91m.
