Chrysda Smith and her York University Field Hockey teammates defeated the Waterloo Warriors 2-1 at Alumni Field. The first quarter of the game was off to an even start with both teams producing several shots on goal, however, none of them were able to find the back of the other's net. The game remained scoreless until Waterloo's Eileen Tudorica scored the first goal with seconds remaining in the first quarter of the game. York University were able to insert themselves onto the scoreboard shortly after the start of the second quarter as first-year Michelle Lee passed to fellow rookie Lexi Hannah who fired a goal into Waterloo's territory and tied the game 1-1. York University and the Warriors went into the end of the first half with an even 1-1 score. In the third quarter, York's Prava Sandhu was able to score an unassisted goal, her first of the season, which went straight through the middle of the Warrior's net. Her goal augmented the Lions score to 2-1, helping the Lions secure their first lead of the game against the Warriors as they concluded the third quarter.
