The Indianapolis Racers outscored the Houston Aeros 9 - 2 in the final two Periods to record an 11-4 victory in the opener.
Chris Merritt led the way with four goals for the Indianapolis Racers, Mathieu Desjardins added a hat-trick, Scott Fergusson, Derek Winch, Yan Leclerc and Adam Smith all added a goal each, while Chris Grantier scored all four goals for the Houston Aeros.
New England Whalers 9 Phoenix Roadrunners 5
The New England Whalers got 4 goals from Adam Mattatall as they defeated the Phoenix Roadrunners 9 - 5. Richard Campbell, Chad Cundliffe, Andrew Markus, Matthew Benson and Shawn Mckee all added a goal each. Jacob Amlong scored 2 goals for the Phoenix Roadrunners, who also got goals from Warren Miller, Owen Siese and Shannon Goose.
