The Bermuda Triathlon Association (BTA) announced its current plans for the 2021 Season.
A statement posted on the BTA website reads, “We wanted to be able to put the scheduled May 16th race on, but regrettably that is not possible: current regulations allow us, groups of up to 10 only, so with event staff and timing, numbers would be very small. Instead, we are looking to put on a major race on Sunday, June 13th.
This will be the National Sprint Championships and will serve as the main qualifier for the 2021 World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships here in October.
Sadly, Clarien Bank has been forced to cancel IronKids for a second successive year which was scheduled for Saturday, June 19th.
We are aiming to stage a junior race that day in its place, for all juniors aged 7-15 (subject to government approval).
At the same time, we will also put on an additional Adult Sprint race for anyone who is unable to race on June 13th, or who wants another go at trying to qualify.
Further details will follow but we will aim to stage this race early in the morning to avoid the worst heat of the day.”
