With a world star like Jan Frodeno at the start of CHALLENGEMIAMI, all eyes were actually on the German World Champion. He did not succumb to the pressure, more than lived up to his role as a favorite, and ultimately took the victory.
Tyler Butterfield also took to the start line and finished 7th with a time of 2:42:54. Frodeno took the victory after 2:37:57, with Lionel Sanders second in 2:40:28, and Ben Kanute finished third in 2:41:35.
Butterfield started out coming out of the water in 18th with a time of 21:48 over the Swim Course, Butterfield would then clock a time of 1:23:43 over the 63.2k Bike Course distance, Butterfield then clocked a 15.7k run time in 54:49.
