Butterfield Is Hoping to Compete in Ironman World Championships

IslandStats.com
Tyler Butterfield is keeping a close eye on his children during this Coronavirus outbreak as they suffer from asthma. Butterfield, who planned to compete in the Tokyo Marathon and then the Barcelona Marathon, pulled out of both as COVID-19 began to spread.

Butterfield is hoping that he will have the opportunity to compete in the Ironman World Championships in October, but as for other events he is unsure at this time.

Butterfield was approached, but declined to participate in Ironman’s new Virtual Club set to launch on April 1, 2020.

The Ironman Virtual Club, will allow athletes to train and compete from anywhere around the world at any time through the Ironman VR Series of weekly races and challenges.

Butterfield cited personal reasons for declining the offer to participate, although he did have an initial interest.
