Hawley Finishes 21st in Pan Am Games Triathlon

Erica Haley finished the Women’s Olympic Distance Pan American Games Triathlon in 21st place in some trying conditions in Peru.

Hawley like all the competitors faced swells between four to six feet as they entered and exited the water.

Hawley said, “The Swim was tough, I was getting beaten up in at the start.”

Hawley was clocked in an overall time of 2:15.44, as 33 competitors went to the start line.

Hawley came out of the water in 25th with a time of 21:37, she then clocked the 20th fastest Bike time of 1:11.30 and then she had the 20th fastest Run time of 41.07.

Brazil took Gold and Silver, while Mexico captured the Bronze.

Lusia Baptista who finished 21st in the 2019 MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda this year won the Gold Medal in a time of 2:00.55, her teammate Vittoria Lopes who finished in 24th in Bermuda won the Silver in 2:01.27 and Cecillia Perez who finished 23rd in Bermuda won the Bronze Medal in a time of 2:02.07.
