Super League’s return to European soil proved a memorable occasion for at least three women who secured their Golden Tickets into the most exciting triathlon series on the planet.
Racing in warm temperatures was probably not what was expected when entering a race in Poznan, but Erica Hawley and the rest of the Pro Women’s field took it in their stride to deliver an enthralling spectacle.
The Triple Mix format produced a tense afternoon with just three places in the Super League Triathlon 2019 Championship Series up for grabs, and one of the Great Britain’s youngest stars took home the win.
At the end of an exhausting race the three that secured the life-changing Golden Tickets were Olivia Mathias Great Britain who clocked 18:34 in the Third and Final Round, she was 13 seconds ahead of Zsanett Bragmayer from Hungary and a further 7 seconds ahead of Gillian Backhouse from Australia.
Athletes competed in Three Rounds of a Mixture of Swim, Bike and Run.
In Round One, Hawley was clocked at 19.52 finishing 8th, she clocked a time of 5.17 on the Swim and 13.57 on the Bike.
Round Two saw Hawley finish 7th with an overall time of 19.55, she would finish 1.15 second behind the winner Olivia who clocked 18.40, Hawley covered the 5K Bike Course in 7.36 and then she clocked 6.05 on the Swim and then she clocked a 1K Run time of 3.07.
Hawley did not compete in Round Three.
