Triathlon has now joined the CARIFTA ranks, as Barbados is set to host the inaugural CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathon Championships at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex on October 7th and 8th.
Eleven regional Triathlon Federations including Bermuda met in Miami and voted unanimously for Barbados to stage the groundbreaking event.
A total of 29 countries, including The Bahamas, are invited to participate in the event, with an expectation of 50 to 70 competitors in age groups ranging from 11-12, 13-15 and 16-19. The CARIFTA Championships will include Triathlon, Aquathlon and Mixed Relay formats, with distances varying based on age groups.
Each country will determine their own qualifying standards.
By having this event, the best Youth and Junior Triathletes in the region will have an opportunity to showcase their talent and compete against each other.
