Bermuda Triathlon Association President Jennifer Gunn, Vice President Patty Petty and Board Member Aaron Smith all made their way to Madrid for the 29th Triathlon Congress.
The 29th Congress will be held on Sunday, during which National Federations will vote on ITU’s future President, Vice President, Executive Board and Committee positions. ITU President Marisol Casado is running unopposed and is expecting to welcome IOC President Thomas Bach to Madrid for the event.
The Congress will see Gunn, Petty and Smith all be part of several interesting meetings and events during the Congress.
Meanwhile a Bermuda delegation headed by the three Bermuda Triathlon Association officials made their presentation to the ITU Executive Board for the island’s bid to host the 2020 International Triathlon Union World Grand Final.
Others making up the Bermuda Delegation was ITU World Champion Flora Duffy, Minister of Tourism, Senator Michael Fahy, Phillip Schmidt, who is the Event Coordinator, Bermuda Tourism Authority Chief Product and Experience Development Officer Pat Phillip-Fairn and Marketing Executive Christian Toetzke.
Bermuda is expected to learn the results of their presentation before the week is over.
