Camiko Smith, Anthony Phipps, and Michael Sims all secured a spot in the tournament following the Second Round of the 2020 Local Qualifier.
Smith posted an Even par 71 to win the Qualifier at 1-under par, Smith recorded 2 Birdies, 14 Pars, and 2 Bogey’ in his round.
Sims Finished at +4 overall, but it was back to back Birdies on 17 and 18 that got him in, he was +4 in his round and 6-over with two holes to play, but the Birdies put him second overall. Sims shot 5 Birdies, 8 Pars, 3 Bogey’s, and 2 Double Bogey’s.
Phipps shot a final-round 1-under par to finish at +4 and advance to the tournament, Phipps had 4 Birdies, 11 Pars, and 3 Bogeys.
While the qualifiers placed based on their final scores, there were some interesting developments with the three alternate players, Andrew Trott claimed the first alternate spot after beating Will Haddrell on the first playoff hole with a birdie. The third alternate spot was a little more challenging with five players finishing their regulation play at 7-over par. Scott Roy was the eventual winner of the five-player play-off for the third spot after making a 30-foot chip for par from the back of the green on #18.
